‘Energy Institute Bangalore’ Invites Application for M.Tech Programmes

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), also known as the ‘Energy Institute, Bangalore’ has started inviting applications for its M.Tech programmes. The Bengaluru-based institute is envisioned to be a distinguished energy research institute offering world class research, and education.

The institute is inviting applications for admissions in three M.Tech courses that are being launched from its temporary campus at Muddenahalli in Chikkaballapur district. The three M.Tech courses are:

  1. M.Tech in Renewable Energy
  2. M.Tech in Power and Energy Systems Engineering
  3. M.Tech in Energy Science and Technology

The institute was set up at Jais in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas through an Act of Parliament  in 2007. RGIPT has been accorded the eminence of being an ‘Institute of National Importance’ along the lines of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). As per the Act of Parliament, the Institute has been empowered to award degrees in its own right. It is co-promoted as an energy domain specific institute by six leading Oil Public Sector Units i.e. ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL and HPCL in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB).
