NIC to Direct Recruit Scientists and Scientific/Technical Assistants

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has started accepting online applications from eligible and qualified engineering graduates to fill up the posts of 288 Scientists and 207 Scientific/Technical Assistants in National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Eligibility Criteria – Education and Age
The eligibility criteria for this direct recruitment drive for the post of Scientist is that a candidate should hold a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Bachelor in Technology or Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Courses B-level or Associate Member of Institute of Engineers or Graduate Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers or a Master Degree in Science (MSc) / Master Degree in Computer Application / Master Degree in Engineering /Technology (ME /M.Tech) or Master Degree in Philosophy (M Phil) in any of the following branches i.e. Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Sciences, Communication, Computer and Networking Security, Computer Application, Software System, Information Technology, Information Technology Management, Informatics, Computer Management, Cyber law, Electronics and Instrumentation.

To qualify for the post of Scientific/Technical Assistants, a candidate should be M.Sc. / MS / MCA / B.E. / B.Tech in any one or in combination of Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics & telecommunications, Computer Sciences, Computer and Networking Security, Software System, Information Technology, Informatics streams.

The age limit of the candidate should be 30 years as on 26 March, 2020 for candidates from unreserved category, 35 years for candidates from SC/ST category, 33 years for candidates from OBC category candidates. The last date for accepting online applications is 26 March, 2020.
The application fee for General category candidates is Rs. 800. There is no application fee for SC/ST/ PWD/ Women candidates.

Salary Package
The selected candidates would be paid a salary package of Rs.56,100-Rs.1,77,500 for Scientists, and Rs.35,400-Rs.1,12,400 for Scientific/Technical Assistants. The selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India.

Selection Process
To submit their online application for this direct recruitment drive, eligible candidates have to visit the official website of NIELIT, and complete their registration in the below given three steps:

Exam Pattern
Selection for Scientists will be done through a written examination and interview. For Scientific/Technical Assistant posts, there will be only written examination. The written examination shall be of 3 hours duration conducted in English medium only. The questions will be objective type and OMR Based.

The question paper for the written examination will consist of 65% technical questions and 35% generic questions. There shall be a total of 120 objective type questions consisting of 78 technical questions and 42 general questions.

The technical questions will be from computer science, and general questions will comprise of Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning Capabilities, Quantitative and Qualitative abilities and General Aptitude.

Every question will carry 1 (one) mark and there will be negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer. For more details regarding the complete exam syllabus, and other important details, check the official NIELIT notification.
