Candidates interested in joining this Navratna PSU have to appear for the corresponding paper of GATE 2019, i.e. Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Electronics Engineering (EC). Only those candidates who qualify the corresponding paper of GATE 2019 will be considered for the next round of selection procedure i.e. Group Discussion or Personal Interview. The qualifying marks in GATE 2019 will be decided by the conducting authority of GATE 2019. GATE score of 2018 or prior or GATE 2020 is not valid for this recruitment drive by Power Grid.

IIT Delhi to Release GATE 2020 Admit Card

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is going to make available the Admit Card for GATE 2020 today. Candidates, who have registered for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2020 (GATE 2020) through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), can download their admit cards today.

GATE 2020, for which, 860,000 candidates have registered, is scheduled to be conducted on 1, 2, 8 and 9 February, 2020 in two shifts – forenoon from 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM and in afternoon from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM.

Here is how candidates can download GATE 2020 Admit Card or GATE 2020 hall ticket:

  1. Log in to the official website of GOAPS through the URL https://appsgate.iitd.ac.in/
  2. On the page that opens, enter your Enrollment ID / Email Address and Password
  3. Now enter the Captcha code, and then click on the ‘Submit’ button
  4. Now you can download the Admit Card and take a printout of the same for further reference
  5. It is preferred to take colour printout of the GATE 2020 Admit Card as no soft copy will be considered for allowing access to the examination hall

GATE 2020 Branch-wise Exam Schedule

The GATE 2020 would be held all over India on 1, 2, 8 and 9 February, 2020. Candidates can download their GATE 2020 admit card from the official website on 3 January, 2020.

As per the official notification, GATE 2020 would be conducted in two sessions – Morning session (9.30 am to 12.30 pm) and Afternoon session (2.30 pm to 5.30 pm).

Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) has announced its recruitment plan for the post of Executive Trainees (ETs) in the Electrical (EE) and Computer Science (CS) disciplines on the basis of GATE 2020 scores. POSOCO is a Government of India Enterprise that comes under the Ministry of Power. The prime objective of this enterprise is to manage the nation’s power system operations.

POSOCO will start inviting online applications from eligible candidates any time after the declaration of GATE 2020 results on 16 March, 2020.

Eligibility

AS per the official POSOCO recruitment notification, engineering students from Electrical (EE) and Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) disciplines with a minimum of 65% marks or equivalent CGPA can apply for this post. Final year/semester students from these engineering streams can also apply for this post, provided their results are announced by 14 August, 2020, and they have obtained 65% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all semesters/years up to the pre-final examination. Also, all the interested candidates should possess a valid GATE 2020 score. Students holding GATE 2019 score or prior are not eligible for this recruitment drive. The upper age limit for this post is 28 years as on 31 July, 2020.

Selection Process

The selection process that POSOCO is going to adopt for this recruitment drive includes considering the marks obtained (out of 100) in the corresponding paper of GATE 2020, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. Only GATE 2020 qualified candidates will be considered for the next rounds of selection.

For calculation of final score of a candidate for empanelment, the weightages of marks obtained in GATE 2020, Group Discussion and Interview shall be as indicated below:

Total 100%

All the selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 60,000-1,80,000 and other allowances, and benefits as applicable, during the one-year training period. All the successful candidates are required to sign a service agreement bond for at least three years before going for training.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which is India’s leading oil and gas supplying company, has announced its plan to recruit Officers/Engineers on the basis of GATE 2020 scores. IndianOil, which has been empowered with the status of a Maharatna PSU, is going to recruit Officers/Engineers through this recruitment drive.

The young graduate engineers will be recruited from Civil (CE), Electrical (EE), Mechanical (ME), and Chemical (CH) streams. IndianOil will start accepting online applications for this recruitment drive after 03 January, 2020, the date on which GATE 2020 conducting body – IIT Delhi – will make the GATE 2020 Admit Cards available for download by all students who have applied for GATE 2020.

As per the official IndianOil notification, the Maharatna company will shortlist candidates for Group Discussion, Group Task, and Personal Interview on the basis of their GATE 2020 scores. Only GATE 2020 scores will be considered for this recruitment drive. GATE 2019 or any previous GATE scores will not be considered for this recruitment.

Exam Dates for GATE 2020 Announced by IIT Delhi

It is official now that the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2020 (GATE 2020) will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). The examination dates for GATE 2020 are 01 February, 02 February, 08 February and 09 February. The tentative timings of the exam will be 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The announcement has been made on the official webpage of IIT Delhi for GATE 2020.

GATE 2020 will be conducted for 25 subjects across India in test centres spread in different cities, as well as, in six cities abroad. As earlier GATE exams, GATE 2020 too would be purely a Computer Based Test (CBT). Engineering students, who wish to begin their engineering career through Public Sector Undertaking companies (PSUs) or pursue higher studies in engineering, technology, architecture or other branches of science will be taking the GATE 2020.

As per the official IIT Delhi notification, the GATE 2020 result would be announced on 16 March 2020. The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website will open on 3 September 2019 and the closing date for submission of (online) application (through website) is 24 September 2019. The extended closing date for submission of application through GOAPS website is 1 October 2019.

The last date for requesting a change of examination centre is 15 November 2019 after making a payment of reasonable amount. The GATE 2020 Admit Card will be available on 3 January 2020 on the GOAPS website.

How to score good in GATE
The syllabus of GATE is very detailed. Therefore, to crack the exam, one needs to put serious effort and follow a dedicated time schedule. A GATE aspiring candidate has to give his best, along with a lot of patience and energy to cope up with pressure of exam.

GATE is a computer-based test that is to be written by candidates on an online platform in three hours. The GATE question paper comprises of 65 questions which are a mix of multiple choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type questions (NAQs). A virtual calculator is being used by students writing GATE to perform mathematical calculations. In addition to subject paper, GATE also includes General Aptitude paper.
