SSC Announces Tentative Exam Dates for SSC-JE 2019 Paper-I

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the tentative dates to conduct SSC-JE (Junior Engineer) Paper-1 exam for the recruitment of Junior Engineers from Civil,  Electrical, Mechanical, and Quantity Surveying & Contract streams.

As per the official SSC-JE notification, the SSC-JE Paper-1 CBT exams are scheduled to be conducted from 01st September, 2020 to 04th September, 2020. As per the notification, these dates are tentative and subject to the prevailing conditions and government guidelines issued to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The Western region of Staff Selection Commission has released SSC JE Admit card for Paper 1 Exam (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contract) 2018. Candidates can download the SSC JE Admit Card from the SSC Western Region official website .

Steps to download SSC JE Admit Card 2019

Step 1: Visit the official website www.sscwr.net
Step 2: Click on the link ‘Status / Download Admit Card for Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contract) Examination, 2018
Step 3: Fill in the required details (Registration number, DOB, Name, etc.)
Step 4: Click on ‘Search’
Step 5: Download SSC JE Admit Card 2019
Step 6: Take a printout of the Admit Card for future reference

It is mandatory for all the candidates to carry their SSC Junior Engineer admit card along with ID proof.

In February 2019, SSC had invited application in for 1,601 JE posts. According to the official SSC notification released for JE Exam 2018, Paper I, which is a computer-based test, will be conducted between September 23 and September 27, 2019.

The SSC JE Paper 1 will have three sections — General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and Part-A General Engineering (Civil & Structural) or Part-B General Engineering (Electrical) or Part-C General Engineering (Mechanical). In first two sections, there will be 50 questions and in the General Engineering section there would be 100 questions. To answer all these questions, candidates would be given a time of two hours.

The tentative date for Paper II, which would be descriptive, will be conducted in December 2019. To write Paper II, candidates have to qualify Paper I.

Vacancy Details for SSC-Junior Engineer Exam 2019 Announced

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the vacancy details for its ongoing recruitment drive of Junior Engineers (JE). The online registration process for SSC-JE Exam 2019 begun on 01 February, 2019, and the last date for online application is 25 February, 2019.

As per the official SSC-JE notification, the commission will be hiring a total of 1,627 junior engineers in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Quantity Surveying and Contract trades through this recruitment drive. All the posts will come under Group B (Non-Gazetted), in Level- 6 (Rs. 35,400-1,12,400/-) of pay matrix of 7th Central Pay Commission.

Of all the announced vacancies, a major portion (1,313) of Junior Engineers will be recruited from the Civil Engineering stream. The remaining 314 vacancies will be distributed among other posts.

The SSC-JE 2019 examination will be conducted in two phases – Paper I (Computer-Based Examination) will have 200 marks questions and Paper II (Descriptive Type Examination) will have 300 marks question. As per the official SSC-JE notification, the Computer-Based Test for Paper I will be held in September, 2019, and the descriptive type exam for Paper II will be conducted on 29 December, 2019.

To apply for SSC-JE 2019 examination, interested candidates should possess a Diploma or Degree in engineering. The SSC-JE 2019 recruitment notification was released in January, and it became the first major recruitment drive by a Central Government agency that will be carrying the reservation benefits for recently announced 10% quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of the General category.

How to Prepare for SSC-JE 2019 General Awareness Paper

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts pan-India recruitment examination to hire suitable candidates as Junior Engineers in various government departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Contract etc. Candidates preparing for SSC-JE exam are quite anxious while preparing for SSC-JE as millions of engineering students appear in this exam, making the competition tough. To help engineering students prepare for the General Awareness section of the upcoming SSC-JE exam, IES Master has come up with General Awareness Classroom Course for SSC-JE 2019.

Prior to discussing the IES Master preparation process for SSC-JE General Awareness, let us walk through the exam pattern and structure of SSC-JE examination.

Exam Pattern of SSC-JE Exam
The examination for SSC-JE includes two papers – Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I that consists of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and Technical (Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) sections is objective type computer-based test (CBT).

On the other hand, the Paper-II is subjective type having three parts from General Engineering section. The three parts are: Civil & Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical.

The Paper I of SSC JE carries 200 marks with a total duration of 2 hours. The breakup of marks for the respective sections is as below:

General Intelligence and Reasoning – 50 marks
General Awareness – 50 marks
Technical – 100 marks

  • Part A- General Engineering (Civil and Structural) or
  • Part B- General Engineering (Electrical) or
  • Part C- General Engineering (Mechanical)

Each question is of 1 mark, and for every wrong answer, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks. Candidates have the option of choosing from Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering stream in General Engineering section.

Only those candidates, who clear the Paper I, are eligible to appear in Paper II.
