The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the release of Admit Cards for Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2018 that are scheduled to be conducted on 7 January, 2018 across India at 42 test centres. The ESE Mains 2018 will be held on 1 July, 2018.
The UPSC website was down for maintenance from 10 am to 2 pm, so candidates who have applied for ESE 2018 can download their Admit Cards once the UPSC portal is live and functional. As per the official UPSC notification, the UPSC website was to be under maintenance from 10 am to 2 pm on 12 December, 2017. Once the UPSC website is live, candidates are required to login at the UPSC portal to download their ESE 2018 Admit Card.
UPSC is going to fill around 588 vacancies by conducting ESE 2018. The 588 vacancies include 18 vacancies for PH, of which 15 will be for LDCP and 3 for HI. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, PD and OBC categories, reservations will be made by the Union Government of India as per the number of vacancies.
The ESE 2018 would be conducted in three phases. The first phase would be ESE 2018 Prelims, second would be ESE 2018 Mains, and the final phase would be Personality Test. The objective of ESE 2018 Prelims exam, which includes objective type question papers, is to shortlist candidates for ESE 2018 Mains. The question paper of ESE 2018 Mains would be conventional type. The candidates who clear both the phases will be finally selected on the basis of their performance in the final phase i.e. Personality Test.
