BARC to Recruit Scientific Officers on the Basis of GATE 2019 and GATE 2020 Score

BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) is inviting online applications from Engineering Graduates from Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering, and Science Postgraduates for its OCES training scheme and DGFS Program for the recruitment of Scientific Officers (Group-A) under BARC recruitment 2020. The last date of submission of online application is 02 February, 2020.

The candidates should possess a B.E./B.Tech. or B.Sc. (Engineering) /5-year Integrated M.Tech. degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in any one of the above-mentioned nine engineering disciplines. The eligible age limit as on 1 August, 2020 is 26 years for General category, 29 years for OBC, and 31 years for SC/ST category candidates.

The BARC Training Schools provide two training programs called Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES) and DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates (DGFS).

Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates (OCES)

OCES is a one-year training programme that will be conducted at the five BARC Training Schools located at BARC, Mumbai; IGCAR, Kalpakkam; NFC, Hyderabad; RRCAT, Indore; AMD, Hyderabad from August 2020.

DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates (DGFS)

DGFS is a two-year training program in which Engineering Graduates & Physics Postgraduates who have excelled in the Selection Interviews for the BARC Training Schools’ Programs and who have also independently secured admission for M. Tech./M. Chem. Eng. in select Institutes/specializations as specified, are paid a stipend and tuition fee to pursue a  M.Tech. / M. Chem. Eng. degree while retaining their employment in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). The training program will start from July 2020 at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and BHU-Varanasi; National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela; Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) – Mumbai.

Selection Procedure

The selection process for BARC OCES / DGFS-2020 academic program involves two stages. In the first stage, the candidates will be shortlisted for the interview stage on the basis of an online exam conducted by BARC or on the basis of a valid GATE 2019 or GATE 2020 score.

The second stage of selection process involves personal interview, which will be conducted at the BARC Training School, Mumbai. The Interviews are tentatively scheduled to be held in the month of May-June, 2020. The list of shortlisted candidates for Interview stage will be made available on the BARC Online Application Portal in the second half of April, 2020. The candidates can choose an Interview slot, based on the availability of dates in the last week of April, 2020. The final selection will be made solely on the basis of performance in the Interview and medical fitness.
