The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has started inviting online applications from meritorious engineering graduates for the posts of Scientist Engineers (SC) in ISRO Centre’s (Group ‘A’ Gazetted posts) and in Autonomous Body (Group ‘A’ Non-Gazetted posts). The online application process starts on 15 October, 2019 and will go on till 4 November, 2019.
ISRO will be only accepting those applications that are made online. Upon registration, applicants will be provided with an online Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. It is mandatory for all the applicants to provide their E-mail ID while applying online.
There are 327 vacancies of Scientist Engineers from Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science streams. The branch-wise break-up of the vacancies is as under:
- Scientist Engineer (Electronics) : 131 Posts (ISRO Centre – Gazetted)
- Scientist Engineer (Mechanical): 135 Posts (ISRO Centre – Gazetted)
- Scientist Engineer (Computer Science): 58 Posts (ISRO Centre – Gazetted)
- Scientist Engineer (Electronics) : 3 Posts (Autonomous Body – Non-Gazetted)
The final selection will be done on the basis of written exam. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be short-listed to appear in the Written Test, which is scheduled to be conducted on 12 January, 2020 at twelve venues i.e. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.
Candidates shortlisted by ISRO will be sent call letters for the written test by e-mail during last week of December, 2019. The written test paper consists of 80 objective type questions carrying equal marks. Based on the performance in the Written Test, candidates will be short-listed for interview, the schedule and venue of which will be notified by e-mail. Though written test is only a first level screening and written test score will not be considered for final selection process, but still it will play an important role in the final selection. Therefore, interested students should take it seriously. The GATE 2020 Online Test Series by IES Master can help them polish their technical knowledge. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in the Interview and those who secure minimum 60% marks in the interview will be eligible for consideration for empanelment, in the order of merit.
Candidates with BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer Science Engineering in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10 (average of all semesters for which results are available) are eligible to apply for the examination by paying an application fee of Rs. 100/-.
The eligible age limit for this recruitment drive is 35 years as on 4 November, 2019. Ex-Serviceman and persons with benchmark disabilities (PWBD) are eligible for age relaxation as per the orders of Government of India. The selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Level 10 of Pay Matrix, and will be paid a minimum basic pay of ₹56,100/- p.m. In addition, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance are payable as per extant rules on the subject. Further, the employees will be governed by the New Pension Scheme. Further medical facilities for self and dependents, subsidised canteen facility, limited quarters facility (in lieu of HRA), Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance, House Building Advance, etc. are admissible as per the Central Government orders.
