The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is going to conduct a national-level Industrial Proficiency Aptitude Test (iPATE) for Engineers on 4, 5, 11 and 12 July, 2020.
Interested candidates can write iPATE 2020 on any of the above dates by registering themselves online till 15 April, 2020 by making a payment of Rs. 1,500/- as exam fee. The iPATE 2020 exam will be conducted at centres across all the state capital cities and Union Territories of India.
Who can Write CII-iPATE 2020?
A candidate interested in writing CII-iPATE 2020 should meet any one of the below given eligibility criteria:
- B. E. / B. Tech (4 years course after 10+2) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, and other streams
- B. E. / B. Tech (3 years course after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, and other streams
- B. Arch (5 years course) / Naval Architecture (4 years course) / Planning (4 years course)
- Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B. E. / B. Tech / B. Arch) recognized by MHRD/ UPSC/ AICTE
- Final Year Students may also apply
Objective behind iPATE 2020
The prime objective of CII behind conducting this test is to standardise the technical recruitment process and provide a one-stop solution for the Indian Industry to recruit technical talents across India. iPATE 2020 will simplify the technical hiring process for the Indian industry while minimising the time, cost and effort required for the entire recruitment procedure.
By conducting iPATE 2020, CII will shortlist talented and employable engineering graduates from all over India, including Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The engineering students, on the hand, by writing this national-level test will become industry-ready as this test will test their engineering acumen and industrial skills.
iPATE 2020 Exam Pattern
The iPATE 2020 examination for all the engineering streams will be conducted as ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT). The three-hour test will include 100 questions which will be a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) as well as numerical type questions. Just like in the GATE exam, in iPATE 2020 also candidates will use ONLY an on-screen virtual calculator for calculations. There will also be a negative marking of ½ marks for every wrong response.
A candidate can appear only in ANY ONE Discipline of iPATE examination. If a candidate makes more than one application, he/she will be allowed to appear in any one Discipline ONLY. One of the duplicate/triplicate applications will be considered and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund of application fee.

Validity of iPATE Score
The iPATE score is valid for 3 years and engineers at any age are eligible to write iPATE exam.
